Fishing Inside Wintergrasp

Fishing Inside WintergraspI’ve marked on this map of Wintergrasp my favorite fishing locations not only in the zone, but in the entire game right now. The red area on the map represents the best location to fish for the Horde while the blue area represents the best spot for the Alliance. I’ve chosen these spots in particular because they’re both easy to access and offer limited opportunity to run into a PvP fight in the middle of your fishing.

I like these locations so much because, while there aren’t any fish specific pools here, the random fish you manage to catch are great for Cooking and, ultimately for me, selling on the Auction House.

Farming Spot: Dragonfin Angelfish

Farming Spot: Dragonfin AngelfishI’m a recent Fishing convert. It’s a “profession” I mocked openly and harshly since I began playing this game oh so long ago. But now my attitude has changed.

In the last few weeks I feel as if I reached what, as far as I’m concerned, is the maximum I can accomplish on my Hunter without being in a Raiding guild. Since I don’t have much desire or inclination to join a real guild I’m trying to find other things to keep my Hunter active and, to that end, I took up Fishing.

Auction House Example: Eternal Belt Buckle

DaughertyI’ve been in the business of selling Eternal Belt Buckles, off and on, for awhile now. Over the course of the last few days, my server has seen an increased demand for them and I’ve had to put in some extra effort to meet that growing interest. I thought I’d take some time and write down my strategy and methods for taking advantage of this situation along with some general tips and tricks that can apply to other items to sell on the Auction House as well.

Inscription After Patch 3.1

I’m worried about the future of Inscription in a post-Ulduar World of Warcraft.

A lot of people seem to be pumped about the future Glyph sales related to the new Dual Spec system. I’ll agree with these folks that, initially at least, the run on Glyphs is going to be intense as people rush to set their two specs up and get all the Glyphs they’ll need.

Let’s argue that this “rush” will last a month, or maybe even less, after 3.1 is released. By that time anyone who is going to be equipped with Dual Spec will probably be all set for Glyphs. What happens then? As it stands right now, some players are buying Glyphs in bulk on a regular basis as they flip back-and-forth from specs as they raid, or PvP, or what have you.

My Mission Is More Fishin’

FishingI’m taking another swing at the Fishing profession. I’ve always felt a sense of shame and embarrassment over the fact that, as long as I’ve been playing this game, my fishing skill has never been at the maximum level. I just could not bring myself to sit down for any serious length of time and work on it.

Well, it’s time to put my Mastercraft Kalu’ak Fishing Pole to use and get fishing up to 450. When I started this the other night my skill was under 365. After some fishing in the Barrens for Deviate Fish I hit 385 and made my way to Northrend. By the time I hung up my fishing pole this evening I was up to 392.

3.1 Hunter Change Kills Engineering

Oh boy. I’m sure most of you have seen the list of proposed Hunter changes in the upcoming 3.1 patch. A little patch I’ve codenamed “Engineer’s Depression” for the latest feature Blizzard plans to implement to make WoW even easier:

  • Consumable ammunition has been removed from the game. Arrows and bullets no longer stack, but are not consumed. Ranged attack speed bonus gained from quivers and ammo bags will be preserved in a different capacity.

Pet Food In Wrath Needs Buffed

There’s a recipe in Wrath called Spiced Mammoth Treats that gives your pet a 30 point boost to Stamina and Strength for the period of one hour. That sounds pretty great but the materials for these are pretty steep. Each Treat takes one Chunk o’ Mammoth and one Northern Spice. On my server that translates into a cost of about 7 gold per Treat.

That’s pretty pricey for some pet food. Fortunately, there’s an alternative from the Burning Crusade you should go back and check out. The pet food is called Kibler’s Bits and it offers the same buff as the Mammoth Treat but it only costs one piece of Buzzard Meat to make. That might run you less than one gold per Bit on Greymane right now.

Making Gold With Cooking Dailies

Horde Inn FeastI had ignored the Cooking profession for most of my WoW “career” until recently when I decided to try and power level high enough to get the Dalaran Cooking Dailies. I used the Cooking Guide at WoW-Professions.com again to make this go as quickly as possible. At the time I didn’t really know just how lucrative this plan of action was going to be.

As far as I see it, there are two ways to clean house with Cooking: making food to sell on the Auction House to raiders or selling some of the rare cooking materials on the Auction House to the Cooking folks themselves. I’ve chosen to go the route of material selling thanks to one particular item called Northern Spices.
