I’m Falling Behind

NaxxramasI’m not much of a Raider (as anyone who has checked my PUG Checker profile can obviously attest to). I’ve never done a full clear of Naxxramas, have never seen the inside of the Eye of Eternity and haven’t even flown around the entrance to Ulduar yet. So with the announcement of the Raid content in Patch 3.2 I’m beginning to get the distinct sensation that I’m falling behind.

Just Join A Guild Already…

The idea of joining a guild gets to be more and more interesting with each passing day but there are few options on my server that I find appealing at the moment. I did briefly join a guild last month, which I never wrote about here on the site, because it quite frankly didn’t go well and probably wouldn’t make for interesting reading.

At this point I’m in a “wait and see” position while I show patience for the right guild situation to come across my path. In the meantime, I’ll continue to PUG as much as I can and enjoy reading about other players’ experiences in the new Raiding content.

The Poll

So how do you feel your Raid progress compares to other people? I’m a big fan of the new polling plugin I installed here the other day so I’ve put up another question for everyone.

Do you feel like you're falling behind in your Raid progression?

Yes, but that’s more owing to the fact that a majority of my guild’s members seem to think that because we call ourselves a “casual raiding guild”, that gives them carte blanche to be absolutely horrible.

Sucks, but that’s the breaks.

I was in the same spot just a week ago. I belong to a pretty casual guild on a pvp server. Anyone that was raiding sort of left to join more progression oriented guilds. Our biggest pvp nut has recently got the raiding bug, and finds a pug a week for about every raid instance he can get into. He has dragged several of us with him. I went from wearing a mixed bag of low level epics and blues to having a pretty darned good start on being able to hit Ulduar soon.

So I guess the moral of the story is, you don’t necessarily need a guild. Just find a few people who run pug raids, or know people who do, and watch trade chat. Some pugs are horrible, some are ok, but it’s what some of us have to live through to see that content. There are so many different raids before Ulduar, there is no reason that, if you have to scrap a lousy run, that you can’t pick up something else and have a successful run the next day.

My two copper.

I am falling behind where I would like to be. Being part of a casual guild that is doing things slow is kind of frustrating some of the people ready to move on. We have half of our 10 man group with some Naxx gear and have yet to see a full clear. At our current pace a full clear is at least a couple of months away.

Like a lot of people my WoW career seems to be all about playing catch up, I am unwilling to put as much time into the game or a guild for that matter as I would a part time job, I love playing the game but after a string of RL issues that prevented me from any serious time in game for over a month my guild moved on without me. I am now in a new guild that thinks casual means stagnant but i have decided to accept that and stay where I am.

I am still having fun, just not the same fun as I felt in a raid.

Strange, there are only 6 ppl whom I suppose they finished Ulduar…

It really sucks because many of the best raiding guilds are also full of the most asshats. I don’t want people talking crap about/to me because I made a mistake and died halfway through Uludar.

On the flip side, I don’t want to be in a raiding guild that doesn’t take things seriously.

I work full time and I have many obligations, so it’s impossible to join a hardcore raiding guild anyway. I wouldn’t be able to meet their schedules.

Maybe it’s best just to do pugs until you find a group that suits you, if one ever does.
