It really sucks because many of the best raiding guilds are also full of the most asshats. I don't want people talking crap about/to me because I made a mistake and died halfway through Uludar.

On the flip side, I don't want to be in a raiding guild that doesn't take things seriously.

I work full time and I have many obligations, so it's impossible to join a hardcore raiding guild anyway. I wouldn't be able to meet their schedules.

Maybe it's best just to do pugs until you find a group that suits you, if one ever does.

Like a lot of people my WoW career seems to be all about playing catch up, I am unwilling to put as much time into the game or a guild for that matter as I would a part time job, I love playing the game but after a string of RL issues that prevented me from any serious time in game for over a month my guild moved on without me. I am now in a new guild that thinks casual means stagnant but i have decided to accept that and stay where I am.

I am still having fun, just not the same fun as I felt in a raid.

I am falling behind where I would like to be. Being part of a casual guild that is doing things slow is kind of frustrating some of the people ready to move on. We have half of our 10 man group with some Naxx gear and have yet to see a full clear. At our current pace a full clear is at least a couple of months away.

I was in the same spot just a week ago. I belong to a pretty casual guild on a pvp server. Anyone that was raiding sort of left to join more progression oriented guilds. Our biggest pvp nut has recently got the raiding bug, and finds a pug a week for about every raid instance he can get into. He has dragged several of us with him. I went from wearing a mixed bag of low level epics and blues to having a pretty darned good start on being able to hit Ulduar soon.

So I guess the moral of the story is, you don't necessarily need a guild. Just find a few people who run pug raids, or know people who do, and watch trade chat. Some pugs are horrible, some are ok, but it's what some of us have to live through to see that content. There are so many different raids before Ulduar, there is no reason that, if you have to scrap a lousy run, that you can't pick up something else and have a successful run the next day.

Yes, but that's more owing to the fact that a majority of my guild's members seem to think that because we call ourselves a "casual raiding guild", that gives them carte blanche to be absolutely horrible.

Sucks, but that's the breaks.
