Selling Your Cooldowns
I see a lot of people on the Trade channel asking to buy cooldowns for Titansteel Bars, Moonshroud and the other Tailoring cloths all the time now. For those that don’t know, “selling” a cooldown basically means another player gives you the materials to make an item and then gives you a small tip for your trouble. The going rate on my server seems to be anywhere from 10 to 25 gold for a variety of different cooldowns.
The amount of gold you’re throwing away buy selling a cooldown is pretty crazy. I can sell Titansteel Bars and all three varieties of Tailoring cloth for between 75 and 100 gold depending on the market. It seems silly to throw that opportunity out the window for a cheap 25 gold. Even I you don’t have the materials on hand, a quick run to the Auction House to buy them can probably result in a profit larger than your tip would be for giving up your cooldown.
The Poll
So now I’m kind of curious. How many of you out there, who have Professions with abilities on a long cooldown, sell them to other players? If you’re a habitually seller of cooldowns I’d like to know your reasons for voting “Yes” in the comments.
Do you sell your cooldowns?

I don’t sell mine very often now. I tend to use them if I have the mats in order to sell the product. My guildies get to use my CDs at no cost.
Now in TBC, I sold my CDs a lot. Some were traded to use someone else’s shadoweave CD while I was making my set. But otherwise, back then, the mats for the specialty cloths were a bit much, so I made some nice money selling all those CDs.
I rarely sell my alchemy CDs because I’ll use them to sell at a profit.

I’m a miner, and yes, I do sell my cooldowns of Titansteel every so often. For me, since I’m not actively making bars left and right to sell on the AH or to use (in fact, I’ve been focusing on my alts recently due to boredom, and don’t log on my main except for instance runs), I figure: “Someone else needs it, I’m not using it, so I might as well let them have it.”
I’m fully aware I could get a nice profit if I were to buy the raw mats and then sell the completed bar, but I also have an Icy Prism CD that I do that with instead.
I guess long-story-short, I’m a lazy altruistic money-maker. :)
