Would You Kill Loque’nahak?
I’ve been spending a lot of time doing Frenzyheart Tribe dailies and mining in Sholazar Basin now that most people are so busy in Icecrown with their Argent Tournament quests. The one thing I can’t get out of my head as I’m flying around the Basin doing my quests and stuff is this question: would I kill Loque’nahak if I happened to stumble upon her?
I should mention now that I only have one spec on my Hunter and it is Marksmanship. So if I did happen to catch Loque’nahak out of the corner of my eye (because I’m searching for Minerals on my radar, and not Beasts, by default these days) would I “do the right thing” and announce her location in General chat? Or would I be selfish and just kill her off myself for the loot and the chance to cross one more name off on the Northern Exposure achievement?
The Truth
I’d kill the hell out of her and loot the corpse as fast as I could before anyone saw what I had done. Is that awful? I’d probably feel bad for a bit but I’m sure that would pass in time. The smart play here is to stop being such a cheapskate, buy Dual Spec, and get a Beast Mastery spec in place just in case this hypothetical situation becomes all too real.

but otherwise I probably wouldn’t given how much time I devoted to searching for him and how glad I was when I finally got him.

I am in the same situation, I only have one spec and it’s MM. So I certainly wouldn’t tame her.
I think what I’d do is /who to see if there are any Hunters high enough to tame her in the zone, then whisper them. I wouldn’t announce to general for fear of someone else coming along and killing her. If anyone is going to kill her, it’d be me!

If there’s no Hunters in the zone, he’s dead as a fucking doornail.
If there are, I’ll whisper them one at a time to see if they’re BM (or have a BM off-spec). If not, he’s dead as a fucking doornail.
As an aside, someone was selling a “Loque’nahak’s Pelt of the Marksman” on my server. I bought it for some sort of intrinsic humor value.

But that’s only since I’m MM myself. But even if I was BM? I still might finish him off. And then skin him to “destroy the evidence”.

I’d kill it.
I’ve done it before, and I’ll do it again. As much as I can appreciate that Loque is a rare mob, I’m under no obligation to anyone to “save” it for a hunter.
Those hunters that want one will get it eventually. When I’m through killing him for achievements, they’ll have one less person to compete with.

Got Loque already but I still mine around the basin. I have already decided if I see Loque again that I will kill Loque with Loque. I need the kill for the achievement now and quite frankly if I help someone else get it then mine is not as rare. Also it would be funny to have the cloak and Loque as a pet.

When i was leveling through Sholozar as BM shortly after the release of wrath. I was level 76 at the time i think, Loque was 77. Still the only kill that i have for the achievement.

Even assuming you have no sense of altruism, or any love for your fellow hunters, and are a complete mercenary bastard…this is worth serious gold!
I know I would happily pay someone a LOT if they were selling the location & I managed to tame on my BM hunter.

Unless I knew of someone trying to tame Loque, I would kill him once for the achievement. After that I’d leave him for a hunter or another achievement seeker.

I was loking for loque for weeks, while i was looking i wrote in genaral that i would gladly pay 400-500g if someone found him and brought me to him. After some weeks i actully found him myself, and is very happy with him. Anyway, if i would find loque today I would do as Rilgon Arcsinh. Check the zone, any hunter? any BM? if not he’ll be dead.
You could make someone very happy, and if someone else get very happy i get happy :)
Then you can put this person on your friendlist, and he/she will do anything for you when you ask :P

Crazy fun happened that night. I still cannot believe someone didn’t see him and kill him before I got back. What luck I had! I would sure hope that anyone that was in the zone would send out the shout out before they went and killed such a beautiful beast. :)
