Your Thoughts On The Isle Of Conquest

It’s been a few days since I wrote my initial impressions of Patch 3.2 and I wanted to discuss the new Battleground, the Isle of Conquest, some more. I personally think this is the best Battleground in the game now. It’s taking me a handful of games to get the hang of it but now that I understand the mechanics it is clearly my favorite Battleground of the five that are available. The Isle of Conquest feels like “Alterac Valley done right” to me.

The control over zones like the Hangar or Docks makes it feel like more of a slugfest than Alterac Valley’s tendency to be a boss rush. I’ve seen some Isle games that have taken forever as control over the various landmarks on the map went back-and-forth. I’ve also seen games where the Hangar was captured, everyone got on the airship and proceeded to parachute behind enemy lines and blow down their front door from the inside (see screenshot above). There’s some variety in the gameplay here that sets it apart, at least in my opinion, with the other Battlegrounds in the game.

So for me, the Isle of Conquest is a big success for Blizzard so far. But I’m curious about what you guys think about the Isle of Conquest. Do you think it’s fun or a total disaster? Or do you hate PvP in all of its forms and wish it would all just go away so you could raid?

I like IoC (and SotA and Wintergrasp for that matter) but in general, PvP sucks. That because, in general, I can’t take only guildies into the BG and be able to count on support from them. Most BG players are idiots; they all think they are the reincarnation of George Patton, while in reality, they have about as much tactical skill as Daffy Duck and the motivational capabilities of Elmer Fudd.

FYI people, you do NOT positively motivate people to do better by calling them noobs. Go read a few management books before you try to tell other people how to play in the BGs. Trust me on this; I am retired from the US Army’s mechanized infantry, and while screaming at people might get their attention, it will NOT get enthusiastic cooperation. Stubborn resistance to your “leadership,” however, it WILL get.

Altough I like the isle, my most favourite bg is by far wsg. Yes…I know. It’s simple :P. But that’s exactly what I like about it: it’s simplicity. And the fact that it’s one of the two bg’s that the alliance on my battlegroup is actually good at XD.
